Walmart’s California -based Chief Suresh Kumar is in the news amid reports of killing 1,500 tech jobs by retailer. Walmart Bentonville is cutting the corporate staff and other positions in its global technology team at the company’s headquarters at Arkansas.

The decision to trim around 1,500 employees is aimed at accelerating decision making and reducing complications, Walmart CTO Suresh Kumar and American Chief Executive Officer John Faneer said in a memorandum viewed by Bloomberg.

Kumar joined Walmart in July 2019. “Suresh’s organization includes Walmart’s technologists, including all our global businesses, which include Walmart US, Sam Club and Walmart International.
