Manav Thakar fought an enthusiastic battle against World No. Four Harimoto Tomokzu before going down in 64, while on Tuesday, Manika Batra made a simple performance against the lower ranked park Gahione to get out of the World Table Tennis Championship. Thakkar, at 48th position, matched 11–13, 3–11, 11-9, 6–11, 11-9, 3–11, matching his more skillful Japanese rival stroke for stroke in the third and fifth games. Although he lost, Thakkar would be pleased with his performance, through the match, he dropped Harimoto in many long rallies.
