Saffron - Confectionery (2024)

Saffron

Saffron also known as "King of Spices", or "Gold of Greek Earth" or "The Golden Spice of Greece" has been cultivated for over 3,000 years across different cultures, continents and civilisations. It is a spice derived from the flower of crocus sativus, commonly known as “saffron crocus”. It is known to be the world’s most costly spice by weight and also probably first cultivated in or near Greece. It has been used as healing herb because of its medicinal properties, as a food seasoning for its fragrance and ability to enhance the flavour, as cosmetic and clothes dye for its bright colour properties.
