Giving information about this, an official said that this sixth Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Police will see the work of gathering intelligence gathering and keeping an eye on sleeper cells. The official said that the Maharashtra government has recently taken this decision after the military tension between India and Pakistan.

The official said, “The special branch is the work of gathering intelligence in Mumbai, which is headed by an Additional Commissioner (Deputy Inspector General). This officer reports to Joint Commissioner (Law and Order). Now the Special Branch will be led by a joint commissioner, who will be of Inspector-General Rank.
Help will be available in gathering intelligence information
The official said that the special branch monitors every incident in the city, gather intelligence information and keeps a close watch on the activities of sleeper sales and terrorist supporters. Under the new system, the Joint Commissioner of the Special Branch will report directly to the police commissioner and will also work with the joint commissioner (law and order). The official said, “This will help gather intelligence information and share timely information with senior officials, so that action can be taken immediately.”
‘Post of Additional Commissioner of Special Branch vacant’
The official said that the post of Additional Commissioner of Special Branch is vacant and is handling it as Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime). It is believed that this step will prove to be important towards further strengthening the intelligence system of Mumbai Police. (PTI)
