Amritsar: Ten people have been arrested by the police in the Majitha fake liquor case of Amritsar. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the police have arrested 10 people including racket gangsters and several local distributors associated with illegal liquor business. Also, the main suppliers of deadly chemical methanol used in industrial products have also been arrested. Apart from this, action has also been taken against the DSP and police station in -charge of the area.
DSP and SHO suspended
Apart from this, DSP and SHO of Majitha have been suspended on charges of negligence. Besides, departmental inquiry has also been ordered against them. The DGP said that DSP Majitha Amolak Singh and SHO Majitha Avtar Singh have been suspended for gross negligence in discharging their official duties.

The kingpin of the arrested racket has been identified as Sahib Singh, while the main suppliers of Methanol have been identified as Pankaj Kumar alias Sahil and Arvind Kumar, who owns Sahil Chemicals in Sukh Enclave in Ludhiana. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that methanol chemicals were being used to make fake liquor after Kingpin Sahib Singh purchased online. He said that investigation is going on to find out the entire functioning and bring all the people involved in the dock of justice.
SSP made a big disclosure
SSP Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh said that the investigation has revealed that local distributor Prabhjit Singh had bought a 50 -liter methanol from Kingpin Sahib Singh in a 50 -liter Jerry can. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had ordered methanol from Ludhiana chemical firm Sahil Chemicals through an online platform. The SSP said that the investigation also revealed that another consignment of methanol ordered by Kingpin Sahib Singh from Delhi -based firm is also to come. He said that as soon as the consignment arrives, excise and police teams have been sent to withdraw and seize it. He also said that all the culprits involved in this racket will be arrested. The SSP said that a case has been filed in the case.
Police issued list of dead
At the same time, the police has released a list of those who died from drinking poisonous liquor. The deceased were between 26 years to 60 years of age. The deceased belonged to six villages.
