Chandigarh: Amidst India and Pakistan tension, the Punjab Police on Monday advised people to be conscious of malware (malicious software) allegedly spread by Pakistan -based hackers. Police said it could be used to steal personal and banking information. The police advised people not to click on unknown links or messages.
Dangerous malware can reach economic loss
The Punjab Police said in a post on X that a dangerous malware called ‘Dance of the Hillary’ is being spread by Hackers in Pakistan, targeting Indian users via WhatsApp, Facebook and email.
Avoid clicking dangerous malware
Police said “Dance of Hillary” can steal malware banking information, passwords and personal data and even allow the device for remote control. Do not click on unknown links or messages. Be cautious, be safe. Police also advised not to download files shared by unknown users.
What is malware
Explain that malware or virus is a malicious software. It is designed to disrupt, damage or access the computer system. Once you are in the grip of malware, you will not be able to do anything on the computer even if you want to.
Learn the symptoms of malware
The biggest symptom of malware is that your computer will be slow or hangs as soon as hackers are targeted. The home page of the browser will change. Unexpected pop-up advertisements will start coming on your mobile or computer. As soon as you click on the consequence message or link, your personal information will reach the hackers. Also, you may have to suffer financially.
