The government is in action against Türkiye, which supports Pakistan against India. The government has abolished the security clearance license of Turkish airport services, Turkish company, which provides ground handling service at the airport. This has caused a major setback to Celbi Airport Services India Private Limited. The company will no longer be able to operate at nine airports in India. That is, the company will now have to lose the business benefits with India. After this move of the government, Celebi Airport Services India Private Limited (Celebi Aviation) will have to end its presence in India, obviously the company is sure to suffer losses. Let me tell you, in the recent tension with Pakistan, Türkiye openly came in support of Pakistan and opposed India. Since then, a large -scale boycott has started in India at every level of Türkiye.
What was said in government order
In an order issued by the government, the government said that security approval in Selebi Airport Services India Private Limited under the Ground Handling Agency category was approved by Director General, Director General, BCAS by letter number 15/99/2022-2022-BCAS/BCAS/BCAS/E-219110 dated 21.11.2022. The security approval in the Celebi Airport Services India Private Limited is canceled with immediate effect, using the powers provided to the Director General, BCAS. It is issued with the approval of the Director General, BCAS.
Celebi Aviation’s business in India
According to the company’s official website, the first step of Celebi Airport Services in India began as a joint venture, the aim was to provide comprehensive and world class services at the Mumbai International Airport. Within a year, Celebi was registered to provide ground handling as Celebi Airport Services India in India and to provide cargo services as Celibi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India at Delhi International Airport.
In the last 10 years, these two stations have become a total of nine stations in India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Kannur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Ahmedabad and Chennai Airports. Celebi Airport Services has a total of 7800 employees in India. The company has given handling service for 58,000 flights and 5,40,000 tonnes of cargo.
It will not be easy for Celeby Airport Services to deal with this situation.
Increased risk of heavy revenue loss!
According to RockTreach, the Celebi Airport Services had an annual revenue (revenue) of $ 143.6 million by 2025, which is around ₹ 1,200 crore. Along with cancellation of security approval by the government, almost all the revenue from Indian ground handling operations is at risk, as the company will no longer be able to operate at nine major airports in the country.
Adani Airport Holdings also broke down
Following the decision of the Government of India, Adani Airport Holdings also abolished the ground handling concession agreements with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel of Ahmedabad at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. A spokesperson of the company’s Mumbai and Ahmedabad Airport has said on Friday that Celabi has been instructed to hand over all ground handling facilities to us immediately to ensure uninterrupted operations. The company said that we will continue to provide uninterrupted service to all airlines without any disruption through the new ground handling agencies they have chosen. Ground handling operations at both airports will remain unaffected. We are fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of service and national interest.
