

20 pink buses were flagged off in Patna.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday flagged off 20 pink buses of the State Transport Corporation for a safe and comfortable visit of women in Patna. He also started 166 deluxe buses of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation Limited (BSRTCL) to improve the quality of public transport in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Transport Minister Sheela Kumari, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and several state government officials were present in the program organized at the Chief Minister’s government residence here.
Soon 166 deluxe buses will run in other districts
The statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said, “The Chief Minister inspected the buses before flagging them and inquired about the facilities provided in them. This is an important step taken by the state government towards women’s empowerment, under which now 20 pink buses have started operating. This will make women travel safe and comfortable. Apart from this, 166 deluxe buses will run in various districts of the state. ”
During the state’s presentation of 2024-25 budget, the government had announced a plan to start pink buses for women, especially in four cities- Patna, Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Bhagalpur.
Women operators will be in buses
A senior official of the State Transport Department said that all 20 pink buses are running from CNG. They will only run in Patna. In the second phase, we will start serving pink buses in other districts. These buses will have women operators and they will run daily from 7 am to 8 pm. ”
