The people of Gaza depend on external help for food and drink.
United Nations: Tom Fletcher, the United Nations top humanitarian official, on Tuesday made a serious charge of ‘intentionally and shamelessly’ in Gaza of imposing inhuman situation in Gaza. He said that the risk of starvation in Gaza has increased due to Israeli actions. This is the strict statement of a high-level UN officer during the Gaza War. Fletcher, who heads the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, told the Security Council that Israel has stopped all humanitarian aid in Gaza for the last 10 weeks.
Israel dismisses allegations outright
Fletcher stated the need for immediate action to stop this ‘massacre’. In response, Israel dismissed these allegations outright and said that it would not accept any support system supporting the ‘Hamas Terrorist Organization’. Fletcher said, “We should think what we will answer to the coming generations, when they ask what we did to stop this terrible tragedy of the 21st century in Gaza.” Fletcher has demanded immediate action from the Security Council to prevent humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Help is not getting enough for the people of Gaza.
‘Grain lying in warehouses just 40 km away’
Gaza Director of UN World Food Program Antony Renard said that one-fourth of the population of Gaza is on the verge of starvation. Antony Renard said that the food required to feed the entire population of Gaza is lying in the warehouses of Israel, Egypt and Jordan, which is just 40 km from Gaza. But this food is not reaching Gaza due to Israeli’s ban. Renard said that his warehouses are empty. In April, where they were giving food to 10 lakh people, now only 2.5 lakh people are able to give food. He warned that soon people will not be able to get even one time food.
‘… then starvation can begin in Gaza’
Food safety experts said on Monday that if Israel did not lift the ban on assistance and did not stop military operations, starvation could begin in Gaza. According to Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, Gaza About 5 lakh people are facing terrible starvation, and 10 lakh others are barely able to gather food. In January 2024, the International Court of court ordered Israel to take all possible steps to stop death, destruction and genocide in Gaza.
‘Hamas is not responsible for the situation of Gaza’
Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a new US -backed institution, has proposed a new aid distribution system according to the Israeli plan, but the UN and other support groups rejected it. Fletcher described it as ‘eccentric tamasha’ and ‘excuse for violence and displacement’. US State Ministry spokesman Tommy Pigot said that the US supports the ‘creative solution’ to help in Gaza, but wants to decide that help does not go into Hamas’s hands. However, support officials say that Hamas is not responsible for the situation of Gaza.
