

Counter Drone System ‘Bhargavastra’
Gopalpur (Odisha): After India’s attack on terrorist bases after the Pahalgam terror attack, there were attacks with drones and missiles on behalf of Pakistan. The Indian Army also told in the press conference that around 400 drones were attacked by Pakistan on the western border. India thwarted all attacks. At the same time, India successfully tested the indigenous anti -drone system ‘Bhargwastra’ in Gopalpur, Odisha. SADL has successfully tested the counter drone system ‘Bhargwastra’ which is able to attack multiple drones simultaneously.
Testing was successful on all standards
Micro rockets used in this counter-drain system were tested a lot in the sequer firing range of Gopalpur. It fulfilled all the prescribed objectives during the test. On 13 May 2025, three tests were conducted for rockets in Gopalpur in the presence of senior officers of Army Air Defense. Two testing were performed by firing one rocket each. A test was fired in Salvo mode within 2 seconds. All four rockets performed as expected and managed to reduce large -scale drone attacks.
Know its specialty
- Indian Defense Company Solar Defense and Aerospace Limited (SDAL) has designed and developed the anti -drone system Bhargwastra with Laagata in Hard Kill mode.
- Its specialty is that the flocks of Bhargwastra drones can detect 6 kilometers or more and neutralize its attack.
- This can compete well with the dangers of unmanded aerial vehicle.
- Equipped with ability to detect and eliminate small drones coming up to 2.5 km
- Bhargavastar is a micro-mesile based defense system. This has been developed in India itself. It is designed to deal with drone attacks.
- It is a multi -counter drone system, in which the first layer of defense has been used as a guided micro rocket. This can neutralize a herd of drones with a 20 -meter deadly radius.
- The Bhargwastra is equipped with a sophisticated command-end-control center with the specialty of Advanced C4i (Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence).
- The radar of this system can detect air threats from 6 to 10 km away within minutes and can neutralize in a few seconds.
How did the name Bhargwastra be?
The name Bhargwastra is derived from the weapon of Lord Parashurama. The name of Parashuram’s weapon was Bhargava weapon, it was a very powerful weapon. Such weapons will prove to be very useful in future war. In view of its firepower, it was named on the weapon of Lord Parashurama.
