Khuda witness
Recently, there was a war between India and Pakistan and the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the enemy. However, both countries announced the ceasefire last day. But Pakistan has a history of breaking its promises and barking in the back. Shortly after the announcement of this ceasefire, Pakistan violated the ceasefire. But few people know that there is also a superstar in Bollywood for which the war was stopped in Afghanistan. Not only this, the army of Afghanistan himself came forward and provided security. This superstar is none other than Amitabh Bachchan. This is the incident of Amitabh Bachchan’s film Khuda Witness which was released on 8 May 1992.
Amitabh Bachchan himself narrated the story
In the 90s, the then President of Afghanistan, Najibullah Ahmedzai, was allegedly a great fan of megastar. When Big B was shooting in the country, half the country’s Air Force was provided for their safety. In 2013, Amitabh recalled the entire experience in a Facebook post. He wrote, ‘Soviet had just left the country and the power was handed over to Najibullah Ahmedzai, who was a great fan of popular Hindi cinema. He wanted to meet me and we were given the right royal hospitality. We were honored as VVIP state guests at Mazare-e-Sharif and were taken in an incredibly beautiful country length and width in airplanes with armed escorts. We got traditional warmth of local people who are fond of hospitality. We were not allowed to stay in the hotel. A family vacated his house for us and went to live in a small house.
Army itself gave security
Apart from this, Amitabh Bachchan said, ‘There were definitely security problems, there were tanks and armed soldiers on the streets. Still it has been the most memorable journey of my life. The unit was invited by a group of chieftains, Danny Dengjongpa, Billu, Mukul and I boarded a helicopter gunship, with five other helicopters on either side. It was an unforgettable journey. The aerial scene showed us the scene of the purple mountains that were turning pink and red due to poppy seeds. It seemed that the time had stopped at all in the valley where the helicopter landed. He also said, ‘We could see a structure like a medieval palace from a distance. We were physically raised by the chieftains and took us there because traditionally, the feet of the guests should not touch the ground. From the palace, we went to the ground where the Bujkashi tournament was organized for us. Colorful tents were installed, I felt that I am in Ivanaho Land. The chieftains insisted that we spend four nights, the palace was vacated and we all kept eating and drinking and it seemed as if we had gone astray in an incredible fairy tale. ‘
Gifts were given among the people of Kabul
Taking up his long post, he shared, ‘We were filled with gifts. A night before going back to India in Kabul, Najab called us to the President’s residence and decorated all of us with the ‘order of Afghanistan’. That evening his uncle sang an Indian raga for us. I do not know where our hosts are, I often wonder where they are today. ‘ Explain that Afghanistan supported India in the fight against Pakistan. Also, the people of Afghanistan like Indians a lot.
