Anta MLA Kanwarlal Meena was sentenced to 3 years rigorous imprisonment in the 20-year-old case of Baran-Maurorathana by the High Court. It is alleged that Meena had threatened to kill the officer with a pistol for not announcing the repol during the election of Upasarpanch in Khatkhedi.
Congress demands cancellation of legislature
Congress’s Rajasthan unit president Govind Singh Dotasara and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie have demanded the cancellation of his assembly membership for the imprisonment of Anta MLA Kanwar Lal Meena for keeping the imprisonment of imprisonment by the Rajasthan High Court. Jhalawar’s Aklera ADJ (Additional Sessions District Judge) court on 14 December 2020 sentenced Kanwarlal to three years in a 20 -year -old case, convicting government officials and damaging government officials and damaging property.
Session court convicted
Meena was acquitted by the lower court in the case. But the Jhalawar session court overturned Kanwarlal Meena, overturning the verdict. Today, the High Court rejected his surveillance petition and upheld the sentence pronounced by the session court. Dotasara and Julie have demanded from the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly that the convicted person of imprisonment for more than two years is not eligible for the membership of the assembly, due to which the membership of MLA Kanwarlal Meena, who was elected from Anta constituency, should be canceled without any delay.
Congress General Secretary’s statement
State Congress General Secretary and Media In -charge Swarnim Chaturvedi said in a statement that the three -year imprisonment sentenced by ADJ (Jhalawar) has been kept unchanged by the Rajasthan High Court on Friday. Congress leaders have demanded from the Speaker of the Assembly that after the High Court’s decision, Anta MLA Meena has been disqualified by membership of the assembly, due to which the order to revoke their membership is required to be passed. He said that Meena’s assembly membership should be canceled immediately.
