

Assam Panchayat Election Result
The counting of Assam Panchayat elections has been going on from Sunday morning amid tight security in the entire state. For the first time after the delimitation of the constituencies in the state, the panchayat elections were held in two phases on May 2 and May 7 in 27 districts and on Sunday, the counting of both phases is being held simultaneously from 8 am and the votes are likely to continue till last night. According to Assam State Election Commission data, BJP has won six seats.
BJP turns out ahead, Congress backward
ASEC Commissioner Alok Kumar told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “2,192 voting was also held for Zonal Panchayat (AP) members, of which 1,124 seats are reserved for women. Along with this, voting was also held for 397 Zilla Parishad (ZP) members, out of which 199 seats are reserved for women. The total seats include 21,920 Gram Panchayat (GP) seats, out of which 10,883 seats are reserved for women.
According to sources, the BJP is ahead in 355 AP seat and its ally is ahead in the Assam Gana Parishad 42 seats. The Congress is ahead in 21 AP constituencies. Talking about the Zilla Parishad, BJP is ahead in 35 and Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) two seats here. The Congress is not ahead in any Zilla Parishad seat so far. Candidates were not allowed to contest on party tickets for GP SIT and they all contested independent elections.
Results will come till last night
Counting of votes started at all 39 centers across the state. The counting agents of the candidates had reached the morning for this task. According to the information received, 2,912 candidates were elected unopposed, including 34 Zilla Parishad members, 311 AP members and 2,567 GP ward members. The official said that there are thousands of seats in the election. We will try to complete the counting of votes as soon as possible. Out of a total of 1.80 crore people in this election, 74.71 percent exercised their franchise.
